Why do I need a Guzzle?

Any of our Guzzle systems are great for any situation where available water needs to be improved to make it smell, and taste better, and / or where there is a risk that there may be parasites, bacteria, or viruses present in the water. Municipal water sources add chlorine to the water supply to sanitize it, and in remote areas water treatment may be insufficient. Guzzle can help with all of these challenges.

How does Guzzle make my water taste better?

The Carbon Block Filter component removes sediment, turbidity, and absorbs much of the chlorine and chloramine that municipalities add to treat their water supply. Doing this makes drinking water taste and smell much better.

Will a Guzzle system protect me from protozoan parasites, bacteria, and viruses?

The UV-C LED purification component of any Guzzle system will inactivate 99.99% of the protozoan parasites, bacteria, and viruses from your drinking water.

What happens if I drink water that contains viruses, bacteria and protozoa?

Ingestion of microorganisms typically leads to infection of the gastrointestinal track. Symptoms may begin in 10 hours, or may take up to several weeks from the point of infection depending on the type and amount ingested. Also the overall strength and constitution of the individual is a factor. Symptoms may include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and pain, nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, fever, fatigue, headache, chills, loss of appetite, and, in the case of hepatitis, dark urine and jaundice. Symptoms usually dissipate in a couple of days or weeks, depending on the factors above. Healthy adults will generally defeat the illness without needing medical attention. Infants, young children, elderly, pregnant, and immune-compromised individuals are at higher risk of needing medical attention or having complications from an illness.

What is the difference between a filter and purifier?

A filter removes contaminants from water by passing the water through a porous material and physically removing contaminants either mechanically or through molecular attraction. A purifier inactivates organisms in the water to standards set by the EPA. Guzzle H2O uses ultraviolet rays to inactivate protozoa, bacteria, and viruses. Some filters can remove most protozoa and bacteria, but typically cannot remove viruses. Guzzle performs both filtration and purification to make your water delicious and safe.

What does Guzzle remove from the water?

Guzzle systems are most effective at removing sediment and turbidity as small as 0.5 microns, chlorine, chloramine, poor taste and odor, and inactivating 99.99% of protozoa, bacteria, and viruses.

How does Carbon Block filtration work?

In the process of filtering water, activated carbon is often used to remove contaminants and impurities. Carbon is very good filtration medium because of thousands of tiny pores that can absorb water. For example, a pound of activated carbon provides 125 acres of filtering surface area. The carbon is positively charged to attract negatively charged impurities such as chlorine, chemicals and volatile organic compounds.

Carbon block filters are the most effective, since there is a larger ratio of activated carbon surface area to water, and also because the powdered block form is denser and water travels through it more slowly. The larger surface area created by the block carbon, and the more time the water is in contact with the carbon, the more contaminants are removed.

How does UV-C purification work?

Ultraviolet (UV) water disinfection technology has become an increasingly popular tool in water treatment over the past two decades, due in part to its ability to provide treatment without the use of harmful chemicals. UV represents wavelengths that fall between visible light and x-ray on the electromagnetic spectrum. The UV range can be further divided into UV-A, UV-B, UV-C, and Vacuum-UV. The UV-C portion represents wavelengths from 200 nm - 280 nm. UV-C photons penetrate cells and damage the nucleic acid, rendering them incapable of reproduction, or microbiologically inactive.

What does inactivate mean?

Inactivate means to destroy a pathogenic organism by breaking up its DNA and rendering it harmless.

What micron rating is the Guzzle filter?

The carbon block filter is tested and verified to remove 85% of particles 0.5 microns or greater.

Does Guzzle remove chemical contaminants from the water?

The Guzzle system reduces chlorine, chloramine, and some VOCs. It has limited effectiveness on heavy metals, pesticides, and concentrated chemicals.

What is the warranty on Guzzle Filter?

2 years from the date of purchase. See full warranty terms and conditions.
